Back-to-wall pans sit flush against the wall with the cistern concealed either in the wall or in a duct. That removes the gap behind the toilet where dust and dirt collect, and it gives a bathroom a single continuous line instead of a pan, a cistern and a join between them. Ten models, from 520 mm to 645 mm wide. Three of the ten are rimless. Flush arrangements in this range are not uniform: concealed cisterns operated by a dual-flush plate appear alongside Tornado wash-down and single-hole whirlpool wash-down, so check the flush type on the model you are specifying rather than assuming it carries across the group.

What is the difference between back-to-wall and wall-hung?
A back-to-wall pan stands on the floor and its back sits flush against the wall, with the cistern hidden in the wall or in a duct in front of it. A wall-hung pan is off the floor entirely and hangs from a concealed frame. Back-to-wall is the easier of the two to fit into an existing floor waste; wall-hung is what you use when the floor has to stay clear.
