The coloured range

Coloured toilets, glazed and fired in-house

Matte black on the one-piece range. Further colours to order.

Colour on ceramic is a glaze fired into the body, not a coating applied afterwards. That has one practical consequence: the result depends on the body underneath it, the kiln position and the batch, so a colour is quoted against a model number rather than promised from a swatch. Matte black is one of two glazes on the one-piece range — seven models, 665 mm to 710 mm wide — alongside glossy white. Further colours are produced to order at a minimum of 30 per model, which is a kiln-batch matter rather than a loading matter. White bodies carry no minimum order quantity. Two batches of one finish do not sit together identically, so we agree the tolerance in writing and would rather you saw two units made at different times than a photograph.

Background: why two factories' “matt black” may not sit in the same room, and what a showroom sample answers that a catalogue cannot.

Buyer questions

Colour, quoted against a model

How many pieces does a coloured model require?

Thirty per model. The glaze is mixed and the firing run is planned for that colour, which is why the minimum sits per model rather than per order. White bodies carry no minimum at all.

Will two production runs match exactly?

No, and no supplier should tell you otherwise. The result varies with the body underneath the glaze, the kiln position and the batch. What can be agreed is the tolerance, and that is agreed in writing before the order rather than discovered on arrival.

How do I check colour drift before committing?

Ask to see the same finish on two units made at different times, side by side and under the same light. It answers a question no photograph can, and it takes a few seconds.

Is matte black available across the whole catalogue?

No. It is one of the two glazes on the one-piece range. On other families we confirm availability against the model number before quoting, rather than listing it as standard.

Ready to talk finish?

Specifying a coloured toilet?

Send the model codes, the colour reference and the quantity. We will confirm in writing which models can carry it and what the batch variation looks like, so the tolerance is on the record before the order is.
